I’ve gotten too close to my tears
It misses me and comes out to see me
when I’m eating
when I’m sleeping
when I’m fucking
I’ve gotten too close to my tears
It leaves trails on my skin
so I won’t forget it
It wets my memory with pain
Two rivers running down my cheeks
I can’t swim, I can’t drown, I can’t stay dry
It floods my heart with ache
I have become my tears
It’s all I have to show
It’s everything I feel
It’s the end I see
My tears have taken over
my body my heart my being
I died yesterday
When my tears got closer than you
stayed longer than you
was more sincere than you
slept with me and not you
I am not here anymore
Tears (inspired by Nana's poem
ReplyDeleteTears can sink you
Suck you in and sink you.
They can form a river
Carry you down stream
Down to the pool with silt and stones and sand
Do not let them.
But first
Take a swim and scrub yourself clean.
Lie on your back and make love to the sky
Flip on your berry and let the saltness of tears massage you.
Do not leave the pool until all the dirt is gone.
But do not linger too long in there.
Jump out to the bank and towel your body dry.
Make a turn and take another journey
Abandon the pool and keep walking
Walk till you feel it is a safe distance
Away from your tears
Away from you
To a new you.
(Hilda)
A friend just edited the poem. I agree with her.

Flip on your berry and let the saltness of tears massage you
Do not leave the pool until all the dirt is gone.
But do not linger too long in there.
Jump out and towel your body dry.
Make a turn and take another journey
Abandon the poolside and keep walking
Walk till you feel it is a safe distance
Away from your tears
Away from you
To a new you.
